Leeds Career

Argentinean international Martin Schusterman joined Leeds Carnegie for the 2006-07 season from Plymouth Albion. He took little time to settle in, grabbing his first and the club's first try of the season against London Welsh.

He notched up his second in the next match against Newbury and by the end of the season he had brought his try scoring tally to 9 in 27 matches. He missed te start of the 2007-08 season due to his involvement with the Argentinean squad in the World Cup in France where he helped the side reach the semi finals in France.

When he returnd to the club, due to the games laws on the number of international players able to play in a team Martin was unable to play for Leeds during the majority of the season. He did make a further 8 appearances in the Cup campaigns however bringing his total to 35.

Rugby Career

Martin began his rugby career in his native Argentina at San Isidro, before moving to England in 2004 to join National One side Plymouth Albion.

He made an instant impression at the club, with a try on his debut against Coventry, after coming on from the substitutes bench. Just two games later he had forced his way into the starting line up and then retained his place for the remainder of the season.

He ended the campiagn as the club's second highest try scorer with a total of 10 tries. The following season he continued to make his mark on the Albion side and notched up a further 7 tries to help Plymouth to a third place finish.

In his final season at the club he made 21 appearances and once again proved his try scoring abilities with a further 9 tries. That year Plymouth finished fifth and Martin was named in the Rugby Times National Division One Team of the Year.

During his first season with Plymouth, Martin received his first call up to the Argentina squad and that year he made his debut for the Pumas in the South American Championship.

He has since won 16 caps for his country. In 2006 he came on as a replacement in Argentina's record breaking 45-27 victory over Wales, which was their first ever Test series victory and was also on the bench for their game against the All Blacks.

Martin followed this up with a place in the Argentina squad who handed a shock 25-18 defeat to England that same year. Having played in two of the World Cup qualifying games Martin has been selected to represent the Argentineans in the 2007 World Cup.

Personal Details

Martin's favourite sportsperson is Michael Jordan and the greatest influence on his career has been his parents. His childhood hero was Spiderman and if he could have a superpower it would be to travel at the speed of light.
