Leeds Carnegie have been boosted by the arrival of 20-year-old Jonah Holmes on loan for the 2013-14 season from Aviva Premiership side London Wasps.
The youngster, who has made five senior appearances for Wasps, has previously played at London Scottish and London Welsh. Holmes arrived in Leeds on Monday to begin pre-season training tomorrow with the rest of the Carnegie squad. He can play at scrum half or on the wing and will add versatility to the back line.
Commenting on coming to Leeds Carnegie, he said, "This is a really exciting opportunity for me and one I want to make the most of. I have got a big pre-season ahead when hopefully I can prove to the coaches and my team mates that I deserve a place in the squad and then take it from there. Leeds did really well last season and pushed Newcastle all the way in the play offs. The majority of the squad is the same as last season with a few new additions like me so that bodes well for the group as a whole."
Director of Rugby Chris Gibson added, "We are delighted to have brought Jonah to the club. He is someone we identified early on as being a talented, young player and I am sure he will benefit from playing and training in our environment. I would like to thank London Wasps for their co-operation in allowing Jonah to join us and I am excited to see how he progresses this season."
Leeds Carnegie have already announced the signings of Glynn Hughes (Moseley), Nathan Hannay (Jersey) and Shaun Jones (Llandovery) for next season.
