Leeds Rugby Head Groundsman Jason Booth and his team are busy at work on the annual renovation process on the Headingley Carnegie pitch.
The planned works began on Saturday morning in a window in the Leeds Rhinos home fixture programme. The process involves the top layer of grass being removed and the whole pitch being sewed with seed.
Commenting on the work, Booth said, "Ideally you would always grow a pitch from seed but obviously last year with the reconstruction we had to use turf because of the time of year. However the rootzone we now have in place means that we can undertake this period of work with a good idea of how the pitch will react. This will give us a much stronger playing surface than the turf we have been playing on and will enable us to play all year round rugby."
