Since the introduction of Academy licesnses Leeds Carnegie Academy has consistently been viewed as the model of success for developing young players. As one of 14 RFU funded Academies the new licence which is place for eight years will allow the Academy to build and progress and continue to be held in such high esteem. The Academy review rated the development system as excellent in all areas and the club are rightly proud of its reputation and are continually looking to improve as we develop Yorkshire talent for Yorkshire.
The desire to ensure that this not only continues but develops further to provide quality players and individuals to the Leeds Carnegie first team but also across the county.
To be the most successful, professional, progressive and highly rated Academy in the country.
To identify, develop and retain Yorkshire talent for England, Leeds Carnegie and the county, providing a continual throughput of outstanding talent to all levels of the game within the county. To support and nurture Yorkshire talent to maximise their ability and reach their potential.
Leeds Carnegie currently, in conjunction with the Yorkshire county, manage the talent selection process for U13-U16. This involves the organisation, selection and coaching for each of these group squads as well as providing facilities and medical support to the squads. In addition 2008 saw the first residential camp for county players organised and delivered the Academy which saw 80 players spend the weekend receiving top quality coaching support.
The U19's currently takes on the likes of Ospreys, Munster and Leicester Tigers.
Leeds Carnegie Academy whilst being a development pathway also provide an appropriately challenging playing programme to support the players at each stage of their development. The junior development squad participate in an annual competition against Academy squads such as Leicester, Northampton and Newport Gwent Dragons.
